Muscatel is a grape variety, which is grown worldwide but especially in the Mediterranean countries. Its origin is likely to be in Asia Minor from where Muscatel spread and came to Europe in the 12th century.

The variety requires very warm sites and is suitable for almost all soils. According to the growing conditions the flavours are developing.

Wines made of muscat grapes are racy, but still belong to the light white wines with fine fruity acid. The wine is characterized by its typical, intense and very fine bouquet of nutmeg.
